The National Student -Be your own pet.
The magazine is clearly trying to be 'cool'. This can clearly be seen on the front cover as it has young people wearing up to date clothes and seem to be in the most common subculture around at the moment, which makes te magazine more appealing to it's desired audience. The young people are also all posing, which is also trying to bring the magazine down to their level.
the name, the National Student, instantly infres what the magazine is and what who it is aimed at, this makes it immediately stand out to any potential buyer. also, 'National' suggests that it is sold all over the country, so that it will have more serious and larger points in it and more widespread information.
'Be your own pet' is an intrugueing thing to put on the front cover, also it does not have anything suggesting what it is either, which adds curiosity to the potential buyer.
The style of writing throughout is basic, bold and easy to read. The words at the bottom in red aren't very noticeable, but they show what the magazine contains, influencing buyers.

College Magazine Questionnaire
I created a college magazine questionnaire and asked 21 peple what they would want in the magazine and other questions relating to that.
The first question was if they even read a college magazine. 19 people answered no. This immediately tells us that the current college magazine is not reaching its target audience.
The next question was asking what they would like to see in a college magazine. Results showed that students mainly wanted information about sports, jobs, fashion and games. So, if we put this information in the magazine more people could potentually buy it. Other questions suggested that students wanted a 'Whats On?' page and also wanted subject information.
Results suggested that students were not willing to pay much over 50p for the magazine, which they wanted weekly, as 83% of the results wanted this. Also, most said that they would NOT subscribe to the magazine.
They showed that the magazine would be better appreciated if it was bright and colourful and also if the magazine was free, and/or if it contained free stuff when bought.
